“ONGC’s Watershed Moment: Converting Waste Water to Clean Drinking Water in North Gujarat”

New Delhi : In a significant development aimed at tackling water scarcity in North Gujarat, ONGC, the Energy Maharatna, has achieved a groundbreaking feat by converting wastewater from its Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) into potable water. This achievement not only guarantees a vital source of clean water for both industrial and agricultural use but also stands as a remarkable milestone in the region’s water resource conservation efforts.

Water scarcity has been a mounting concern in North Gujarat, prompting ONGC to take action. The North Santhal (NS) ETP facility, under ONGC’s management, now boasts the capacity to produce an impressive 500 cubic meters (equivalent to five lakh liters) of treated water daily, suitable for consumption.

This initiative is a testament to ONGC’s dedication to the prosperity and natural resource preservation of the region. The Maharatna has initiated five such facilities on a pilot basis, with the NS ETP facility being the first to become operational.

ONGC’s commitment extends to ensuring that the benefits of this endeavor reach the grassroots level, thereby enhancing the lives of local communities and safeguarding the precious water resources of water-scarce North Gujarat.

 Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Mehsana, Shardaben Patel, recently visited the NS ETP facility along with representatives from the High Power Committee and the local farming community. During her visit, MP Patel interacted with the dedicated team responsible for this transformative project and expressed her deep appreciation for ONGC’s unwavering commitment to addressing the water scarcity issue in North Gujarat.
