North East: Shri Manohar Lal, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs & Ministry of Power, reviewed the progress of urban missions in the northeastern states on July 9. The meeting aimed to enhance the region’s growth and development, aligning with the government’s vision for sustainable habitat development and SDGs.

State ministers and secretaries presented their challenges and requirements, seeking increased financial support due to the region’s unique geography and environmental concerns. NBCC Reports Record-Breaking Performance, Crosses Rs 10,400 Cr Mark

Assam was commended for its outstanding performance in implementing the PMSvanidhi scheme and adopting the Model Tenancy Act. The Minister encouraged other states to follow suit, promoting a unified approach to urban development. The successful completion of projects in 10 smart cities was also acknowledged.

Shri Sanjay Kulshrestha, CMD of HUDCO, and Shri K P Mahadevaswamy, CMD of NBCC, reiterated their companies’ commitment to supporting urban development in the region.

The Minister expressed optimism about the comprehensive roadmap for sustainable urban development, addressing the increasing demand for adequate land, housing, and infrastructure facilities.
