Rishikesh- 06.01.2022: THDC India Limited in a bid to cater the need of future energy demands and to promote the adoption of green energy, installed an electric vehicle charging station at Deendayal Upadhyay Parking Haridwar. Shri R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDC inaugurated the Electric charging station. Sh. J. Behera Director (Finance) was also present during the inauguration ceremony.
The charging station is capable of charging 03 vehicles simultaneously. It has the capacity to charge a four-wheeler in just 45 minutes as against 7-8 hours required for charging the same at home. The vehicle charging station has been set up by THDC India Ltd. under its CSR initiative through Convergence Energy Services Ltd., a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Ltd., a Government of India undertaking. During the inauguration Sh. Vishnoi stated that the E-Charging station as an important initiative to meet the future energy requirements for cleaner environment and will also provide ease for the travellers to charge their electric vehicles coming to Haridwar in view of various religious festivals, Chardham Yatra and Kumbh. Sh. Vishnoi also added that THDC is going ahead with its ambitious plan to set up electric vehicle charging stations at other places in the state.
On this occasion, Sh. J. Behera, Director (Finance) said that it as an important investment of CSR funds by THDC in environmental protection. The Installation of electric vehicle charging station will encourage the adoption of Election Vehicles in the State. On this occasion, Sh. Pradeep Kumar Naithani, General Manager (CSR) mentioned that in order to promote the use of electric vehicles, a provision has been made to charge a fee at the above charging station at concessional rates under THDC’s CSR scheme and not at the commercial rates.
It is to mention that, THDC India Limited being a responsible PSU, has always strived for the upliftment of its stakeholders through its extensive CSR activities. The organization has always aspired to advance its CSR activities in all three directions viz Social, Economic and Environmental pursuing the goal of sustainable development.
Today, THDCIL is one of the premier power generators in the country with installed capacity of 1587 MW with commissioning of Tehri Dam & HPP (1000MW), Koteshwar HEP (400MW) in Uttarakhand, Wind Power Projects of 50MW at Patan & 63MW at Dwarka in Gujarat, 24MW Dhukwan Small Hydro Project, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and 50 MW Solar Power Project at Kasaragod, Kerala to its credit.
