President Smt. Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the 37th Surajkund International Crafts Fair-2024, attended by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Chief Minister Manohar Lal. The President praised the fair’s cultural significance and economic opportunities for artisans, emphasizing Tanzania as the partner country. The event showcases Gujarat’s rich art and tradition as the theme state, and the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation as the cultural partner. Mrs. Murmu anticipated trade worth over Rs 20 crore, boosting craftsmen and handloom traders economically.
Governor Dattatreya highlighted the fair’s historic status on the global tourist calendar, with this year featuring Gujarat and Tanzania. Chief Minister Manohar Lal expressed gratitude, calling Surajkund a symbol of Haryana’s identity. He welcomed Tanzanian and Gujarati contributions, marking a milestone with over 40 countries participating for the first time. The Chief Minister emphasized the fair’s role in promoting craftsmanship, preserving tradition, and attracting global tourists.
