The 10th edition of the International Film Festival of Shimla (IFFS) is set to kick off on August 16th, 2024, at the historic Gaiety Theater in Shimla. The inaugural film, “Mrs. Tendulkar,” starring National Award-winning actress Seema Biswas, will be screened on the first day of the festival. Seema Biswas will also be present at the inaugural ceremony and will interact with the audience.
The festival, organized by Himalayan Velocity in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India, and the Department of Language & Culture (LAC) Government of Himachal Pradesh, has gained immense popularity over the years. This year, 27 countries and 20 states are participating in the festival, making it a diverse and vibrant celebration of storytelling through the lens of different cultures and perspectives.
The festival will feature competitions in International, National, and State categories, as well as specially curated sessions focusing on issues, themes, countries, and the works of filmmakers. The program will also include screenings of films, seminars, workshops, and sessions with experts from film institutes, film critics, and the film industry. 60 independent directors whose films will be screened in the festival will also attend the three-day event.
IFFS aims to promote a vibrant movement of Documentary, Short Film, Feature Films, Animation Films, Music Videos, and web series. The festival has been successfully organized since 2015, and this year’s edition promises to be an exciting celebration of cinema and storytelling.
