REC Limited Appoints New CMD: Jitendra Srivastava Takes the Helm

New Delhi, April 20, 2025: The Government of India has announced the appointment of a new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) for Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC Limited). Jitendra Srivastava, a 2000-batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, has been entrusted with this pivotal role. Currently, he serves as Joint Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
His leadership is expected to steer REC, a key player in rural electrification and power sector financing, toward new milestones. Earlier, in March 2025, Parminder Chopra, CMD of Power Finance Corporation (PFC), was assigned the additional charge of REC’s CMD for a period of three months or until further orders. With Srivastava’s permanent appointment, REC now has a dedicated full-time leader.

REC Limited plays a vital role in India’s power sector, funding initiatives to bring electricity to rural areas. Srivastava’s administrative expertise and experience are anticipated to strengthen the company’s mission.
