Chennai, February 18, 2025: Speaking on the occasion, Shri Narayanan Thirupathy, Director (Independent), REC Limited, emphasized the organization’s dedication to community empowerment through impactful CSR initiatives. A Memorandum of Association (MoA) has been signed between REC Foundation and Sankara Eye Hospital, Pammal, Chennai, under which ₹6 crore has been committed for the ‘Eye Care for All’ project.
Through this initiative, free cataract surgeries will be provided to 8,000 economically disadvantaged individuals in and around Chennai. The MoA was formalized on February 17, 2025, between Smt. Thara Ramesh, Chief Program Manager (CPM), REC Regional Office Chennai, and Wg Cdr V. Shankar (Retd), Trustee, Sankara Eye Hospital. The signing took place in the presence of Shri Narayanan Thirupathy and other officials from REC and Sankara Eye Hospital.
Under this partnership, essential eye care services will be ensured for those in need, with the goal of restoring vision and improving the quality of life for the beneficiaries. This initiative is considered a major step toward eliminating avoidable blindness.
