R. K. Vishnoi takes over as CMD, NHPC

 Rajeev Kumar Vishnoi has taken over the additional charge of the post of Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company. Shri Vishnoi joined NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad on 13th December 2022. Shri Vishnoi is currently holding the post of CMD, THDCIL with additional charge of Director (Technical) & Director (Personnel), THDCIL and also the additional charge of CMD, NEEPCO.

 R.K. Vishnoi has more than 35 years of vast and rich experience in the Design, Engineering and construction of hydro project structures. He joined THDCIL in the year 1989 at the level of Engineer and worked in different capacities and rose to the level of General Manager in the year 2013 and thereafter elevated as Executive Director in the year 2016. Apart from heading the Design Department, he also held the additional charge of Executive Director, Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) 444 MW. He has various prestigious achievements to his credit while working with the Tehri, Koteshwar and Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydro projects. He further became Director (Technical), THDCIL in Sep’ 2019 and took over as CMD, THDCIL in Aug’ 2021.

Vishnoi is an Hons. Graduate in Civil Engineering from BITS Pilani and he has also attained the qualification of MBA and has undergone Professional Up-gradation Programme in Design and Construction of Hydraulic Structures and Hydropower Constructions from State University of Moscow, Russia. He has also attended Advanced Management Programme in Leading Strategic Change from ASCI, Hyderabad in association with SDA Bacconi School of Management, Italy.

 He has significantly contributed as a member of the World Bank Expert Group to deliberate and constitute guidelines in respect of contracts during various interactions with World Bank Headquarters, Washington (USA) on their invitation. He is currently the President of Indian Committee of International Commission of Large Dams (ICOLD) and is also representing India in ICOLD for the Technical Committee on Seismic Safety of Dams.

 He has delivered notable keynote lectures in several countries such as US (Spokane & Washington DC), Russia (St. Petersburg), China (Chengdu & Beijing), Greece (Porto Carras), Turkey (Antalya), Canada (Ottawa), Singapore and Nepal.
