Gurugram: “Our goal is to enhance power distribution and management throughout the country,” stated Manohar Lal, Union Cabinet Minister of Power, during a speech at the Rural Electrification Corporation Limited office in Gurugram on the occasion of REC’s 55th Foundation Day.
He added that the National Power Management System (NFMS), a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Power, provides detailed information on real-time power supply hours, outages, and the overall health of approximately 2.5 lakh feeders (11 KV outgoing) nationwide.
This system will empower stakeholders to make informed decisions, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in distribution utilities (DISCOMS), thereby improving power supply quality and reliability for consumers. The project involves integrating master and transactional data with 87 Discoms.
As part of the program, a dedicated control center has been established at the REC Corporate Office in Gurugram to monitor and disseminate findings to Discoms daily, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of data displayed on the NFMS portal and assisting in improving and maintaining necessary KPIs set by the Ministry.
