Originally the palace of Queen Orchha, the temple’s captivating history dates back to the 16th century AD, a testament to the queen’s deep devotion. During the completion of the Chaturbhuj Temple, the queen obtained a Lord Shri Ram statue from Ayodhya’s sacred Sarayu River. Amidst the temple’s ongoing construction, she placed the statue in the palace’s kitchen overnight. Remarkably, the next day, Lord Ram refused to budge, transforming the palace into a divine temple. Since that miraculous day, the Ram Raja Temple has witnessed a daily Guard of Honour for King Shri Ram, highlighting the deity’s unique dual role as both a divine figure and a royal sovereign.
