Raipur: In a groundbreaking moment for the power sector, Union Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister, Shri R. K. Singh, virtually inaugurated the Indian Power Stations O&M Conference 2024 hosted by NTPC Limited in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Singh expressed a visionary goal for NTPC to double its electricity generation capacity, reaching 150 GW and transforming into a global entity.
He emphasized the importance of adding nuclear power capacity and developing mechanisms to enhance power plant efficiency while reducing emissions.
The conference focused on “Operations & Maintenance Practices for Safe, Reliable & Cost-Effective Power Generation.” Union Power Secretary Shri Pankaj Agarwal highlighted the significance of sustainable O&M practices, and Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority, Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, emphasized safety protocols and AI-driven applications for cost-effective solutions.
NTPC’s CMD, Shri Gurdeep Singh, lauded the company’s excellence in O&M practices, showcasing the first unit at Singrauli operating at a Plant Loading Factor of almost 100% even after 42 years.
The event also witnessed the presentation of Swarn Shakti Awards and Business Excellence Awards, with NTPC Talcher Kaniha claiming the Overall Champion title.
Directors and officials present included Shri D.K. Patel, Shri Jaikumar Srinivasan, Shri Shivam Srivastava, Shri Vidyadhar Vaishampayan, Ms. Sangitha Varier, and others.
The IPS 2024 focused on a comprehensive approach to safety regulations, quality control, and embracing cost-effective O&M practices for sustainable and efficient power generation.
