NEEPCO Director Maj Gen Rajesh Kumar Jha Honored with Bar to AVSM

New Delhi, July 19 — Maj Gen Rajesh Kumar Jha, AVSM (Retd), received the Bar to the (अति विशिष्ट सेवा मेडल) Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) from the President of India at the Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Durbar Hall, Rashtrapati Bhawan. This honor, acknowledging his service of a very exceptional order, follows his previous AVSM awarded on January 26, 2021, by then-President Shri Ram Nath Kovind.

Gen Jha’s new role as Director Personnel at NEEPCO began on September 25, 2023, after an illustrious 38-year career in the Indian Army. His military service includes key appointments and significant operational experience, such as his participation in the Kargil War. Additionally, his international assignments include a stint with the United Nations in Sierra Leone and serving as the Defence and Military Adviser at the High Commission of India in London from 2014 to 2017.

In addition to his professional achievements, Gen Jha and his wife, Anupama, are advocates for the empowerment of the girl child, especially in the North-Eastern Region (NER). During his command of a Mountain Division in West Kameng in 2018, they adopted two five-year-old girls, Rinchin and Tenzin, from Manjushree Vidyapeeth, Tawang. This personal commitment to social causes underscores the couple’s dedication to making a difference beyond their professional lives.
