New Delhi: 01-August ,2024: In a significant development, Shri Varun Popli, a Deputy General Manager (Engineering) at NBCC’s Tourism Works in Pang, Leh, has been placed under suspension effective August 1, 2024. This action follows his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the same day for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes as illegal gratification.
The suspension order, issued by NBCC’s HRM department, cites rule 4 (1) (b) of the NBCC (Discipline & Appeal) Rules 1993. Popli will remain suspended until further notice, pending the outcome of the court proceedings. The CBI has arrested Popli and will produce him before a competent jurisdiction court in Delhi.
The allegations against Popli are serious and raise concerns about corruption within the organization. NBCC has taken swift action to suspend him, pending a thorough investigation and court proceedings.
