The state-run NBCC has commenced construction on India’s largest electric bus depot, marking a significant milestone in the country’s sustainable urban growth journey. The project, valued at Rs. 409.94 Crore, will be India’s first multi-level bus depot for electric buses, showcasing NBCC’s commitment to innovative and eco-friendly infrastructure development.

Delhi’s Leap towards Sustainable Transportation

The depot, spread over 7.50 lakh sq.ft, will house 434 buses and feature advanced facilities, including EV charging points, solar panels, and a tertiary STP for water recycling. This project underscores Delhi’s dedication to reducing carbon emissions and promoting green transportation, aligning with the city’s vision for a sustainable future.

NBCC’s Contribution to Urban Infrastructure

NBCC’s expertise in construction and project management has been instrumental in shaping India’s urban landscape. With several ongoing projects, including facilities at Hari Nagar Colony, Hari Nagar Depot, and Shadipur Colony, NBCC is driving India’s urban growth story, with a total investment of approximately Rs. 1600 Crore.

Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena,Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, laid the foundation stone for India’s largest electric bus depot at Vasant Vihar, Delhi. The event was graced by the presence of Shri Kailash Gahlot, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Govt. of Delhi, Shri Prashant Goyal, Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Transport, Government of Delhi, Shri K. P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman & Managing Director of NBCC, Ms. Shilpa Shinde, Managing Director of DTC, and Shri Saleem Ahmad, Director (Projects) at NBCC. Other distinguished guests and officials from DTC and NBCC also attended the event.
