New Delhi : During a program organized on Building Assets for Developed India on Budget 2024 at HUDCO Conference Room, CMD Shri Sanjay Kulshreshtha in conversation with News-I.P. said HUDCO is fully prepared to give wings to the dream of the Prime Minister. We are waiting for the complete guidelines in this regard. Highlighting the important role played by HUDCO in the previous schemes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), he said, HUDCO played a vital role in the implementation of the previous schemes. From the initial stages, HUDCO provided consultancy services and reviewed the state project reports accepted by the Central Government, thereby demonstrating their integral involvement in these large-scale projects.
Shri Kulshreshtha elaborated on HUDCO’s contribution, highlighting their participation in the counterpart fund for the state governments. He revealed that HUDCO had funded about five states with about Rs 70 thousand crore, mainly targeting the housing sector and infrastructure lending. This substantial funding helped catalyze growth and demonstrated HUDCO’s ability to effectively support large-scale government initiatives.
Shri Kulshreshtha informed that the Government of India had allocated Rs. 2.2 lakh crore out of the total budget of Rs. 10 lakh crore. This allocation provides an opportunity for HUDCO to contribute to the financing of an additional Rs. 7.8 lakh crore. He underscored the immense responsibility and potential presented by this opportunity, noting that HUDCO aims to complete and manage this significant financing within the next two to three years. However, he also informed that the final comments and actions will depend on the upcoming guidelines.
In response to a query from NewsIP about the construction of three crore houses for the poor under the PMAY scheme, Shri Kulshreshtha reiterated HUDCO’s commitment to play a vital role. He expressed confidence in HUDCO’s ability to support this ambitious target given its past success and ongoing efforts. HUDCO is poised to play its pivotal role in shaping India’s housing and infrastructure landscape.
