HUDCO Marks 55th Foundation Day with Tribute to Pahalgam Victims

By Z A Ansari : New Delhi, April 25: Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) commemorated its 55th Foundation Day with solemnity and purpose at a grand event held at the India Habitat Centre, adjacent to its New Delhi headquarters. The event commenced with a two-minute silence observed in memory of those who lost their lives in the recent tragic accident in Pahalgam. The packed auditorium stood united in paying heartfelt tribute to the departed souls.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Solomon Arokiaraj (IAS), Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, underscored the critical role HUDCO will play in achieving India’s infrastructure goals under the 2040 mission.

“India’s path to 2040 demands a massive expansion of infrastructure, and HUDCO is central to this vision,” Mr. Arokiaraj said.

He emphasized the importance of urban infrastructure, pointing out that over 80 percent of India’s GDP is generated from urban areas. He added that HUDCO’s initiatives align seamlessly with the government’s national development agenda.

Highlighting HUDCO’s growing financial capabilities, Mr. Arokiaraj noted the increasing capital expenditure year-on-year, adding that the quantum of investment required is immense, and HUDCO’s role is paramount. “HUDCO is well-positioned to attract private investment and fuel sustainable growth,” he stated.

HUDCO, he said, remains a key partner of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and various state governments, with strong policy backing and institutional commitment paving the way for innovation and execution.

Mr. Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman and Managing Director of HUDCO, lauded the dedication of the organization’s workforce.

“Our consistent performance is driven by the unwavering commitment of our employees, who are the foundation of this institution,” he said.

Mr. Kulshrestha reaffirmed HUDCO’s vision to continue contributing to the nation’s development, expressing hope that the corporation will further scale new heights. “We aim to showcase our achievements more widely and continue this journey with renewed energy and direction,” he added.

The event also featured an exhibition highlighting HUDCO’s legacy, ongoing initiatives, and future aspirations, celebrating over five decades of infrastructure development and public service.
