HPCL CMD Post : Conspiracies are usually hatched in secrecy not merit based selections
Oil & Gas once again to witness leadership uncertainties ?
News-I.P. is privy to information that for the post of CMD HPCL, shortlisted candidates have been asked to be ready, for Video Based Interaction, with the Search & Selection Committee on 11.10.2024. Sources say that the process followed for Chairman Indian Oil will be followed in case of HPCL also. It is to be seen whether the HPCL matter will follow the same trajectory as that of IOCL. Will the kite flying result in the kite getting stuck on the high voltage line as has been the case of IOCL?
Many experts feel the selection process should actually be done in an open and transparent manner and not in a rather hush hush almost clandestine manner. Further, many are also asking what is the best intent behind keeping the Video Interaction on an important Hindu Festival Day. All know the importance of ‘Ashtami’ during ‘Navratri Puja.’ Is it that an attempt is being made to take advantage of the fact that some or many candidates cannot attend the Video Interaction as they would be busy with religious festivities and commitments ? Further, why is it so essential that authorities want to keep all activities under wraps ? Not many in the MoP&NG are even having any clue of the date. Functionaries feel almost embarrassed when enquires are made about these important selection activities and they are unable to answer.
The 007 like telephone calls to only some candidates are in themselves intriguing. Such secretive, undercover, non transparent Selection Process inevitably leads to the general public being suspicious about it. Such things lead at best to disbelief and at worst client direct action resulting in Enquiries and Court Cases. What should be done in a transparent manner in public view should not be allowed to be converted into a matter of doubt and disbelief. Is it that the Ruling Party is being targeted from within the power circles to weaken it? Who is to gain from such unprecedented activities for selection of most vital PSU Heads and Leaders?
Is the motivation and morale of the entire workforce of leading PSUs not being impacted? We leave it to our readers to draw their own conclusion.
