Goa: The Ministerial Meeting of the ongoing 14th Clean Energy Ministerial and 8th Mission Innovation Meeting got off in Goa on July 21, 2023, under the chairpersonship of the Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, Shri R. K. Singh. Ministers of more than 30 participating countries, heads of delegations, and representatives of international organizations were present for the inaugural session of the Ministerial
Addressing the Ministerial, the Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy said that the Availability of affordable energy plays a pivotal role in our policy.
We are responsible to ensure energy transition and We have installed renewables to do that. We have about 240 GW of installed capacity of clean energy and 55GW of renewables under progress under various stages. In Glasgow, we have committed 50% of our capacity to renewables by 2030 and I have confidence that we will achieve well before that.
People who do not have access to electricity are one of the greatest challenges before us to provide them affordable electricity access.
The issue of challenges of supply chain disruption is another issue we need to focus.
The importance of low-cost finance to emerging and developing countries is needed for a faster energy transition.
I would like to request the developed world to come forward and fund such projects.
We need to cooperate collaborate and share the green technology to achieve the energy transition for the world.
