SJVN observes World Environment day 2021
This year the theme was “Ecosystem Restoration: Reimagine, Recreate, Restore” Photography and Slogan-writing competitions were organized for SJVN employees
SHIMLA: SJVN a Schedule ‘A’ and ‘Mini Ratna’, Power PSU observed the World Environment Day at its Corporate Headquarters at Shimla. Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, administered oath on Environment Conservation to all employees through digital platform, in the benign presence of Smt. Geeta Kapur Director (Personnel) and Shri Sushil Kumar Sharma Director (Electrical).
Virtually addressing the employees, Sh. Nand Lal Sharma said, “SJVN is contributing significantly to the Sustainable Development of the Nation. We believe in recognizing equal importance to all three pillars of Sustainable Development – Economic Development, Social Development and Environmental Development. Various initiatives of SJVN, such as organizing Satluj Aradhana, Plantation drives at various Projects, Energy-Conservation measures at CHQ and at Projects assist in creating awareness and inculcating environmental sensitivity amongst the masses. He stated that it is the prerogative of each one of us to consciously contribute towards reimagining, recreating and restoring the ecosystem, so that we offer a better World to live, to our future generations.”
Commemorating Environment Day, SJVN organized a Photography Competition on Surrounding Ecosystem and Biodiversity and Slogan-Writing Competition on Ecosystem Restoration for its employees posted at CHQ, Shimla. All the entries were invited digitally for the competitions. Chairman & Managing Director and all the Directors visited the Exhibition Gallery displaying the entries. Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, CMD presented the prizes to the awardees.
This year commemorates the formal launch of the “UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021 – 2030”. Films on Environment Conservation and Ecosystem Restoration to spread environmental awareness were also screened on various screens installed within the office complex.
The MHA guidelines of social distancing were followed throughout the celebration event of World Environment Day.
