Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said his government’s doorstep ration delivery scheme would not have any name, a day after the Centre red-flagged ”Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojna”, scheduled to begin from 25th March. He said that We will accept all conditions of the Centre but will not allow any obstruction in the implementation of the scheme; we don’t want any credit. He said that we were a little disheartened with the Central government’s objection, but we have understood their issue with it; we just want the people to benefit and the ration mafia to be defeated. CM Shri Kejriwal said that there will be a Cabinet meeting on Monday and its proposal will be sent to the Centre and I am hopeful that this time the Central government will approve this scheme. He said that we dreamed of this scheme for 20-22 years and I was personally preparing for it for the last 2-3 years, our battle of 22 years will be won with the implementation of this scheme. He also said that we did not bring this scheme to take any credit, all the credit should be with them and all the work and responsibilities should be with us. The Delhi CM said that the central government has an objection to the word ‘Chief Minister’, so we have decided to provide door to door ration without any name of the scheme.
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “On 25th March 2021 the Delhi government was supposed to begin the revolutionary flagship project — the Mukhyamantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana. Every state government provides ration to its poor. People get ration from ration shops and face various difficulties. All ration shops are supposed to open every day but generally, they open just two or three days. This makes getting ration very difficult and also, many ration dealers mix unhealthy materials in the ration. In many cases, the ration dealers also charge extra money from the poor, which is why citizens face a lot of difficulties in getting ration.”
“Taking cognizance of this situation, the Delhi government came up with the idea of home delivery of ration. Under this scheme, we decided to prepare a pack comprising atta, rice and other ingredients, which the government would then deliver to individuals. We realised this can reduce the issues citizens face in getting their monthly ration. This is why the Delhi government came up with Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana. We were all set to launch this scheme on 25th March but yesterday afternoon we received a letter from the Central Government, whereby the Central Government directed us not to implement the scheme.”
He said, “But we will not allow any barriers to stop us and have decided to accept all the directions and clauses proposed by the Central Government. We will follow all the directions given by the Central government. Our only aim is to send the ration to the citizens of Delhi. We just want Delhi’s poor to get clean ration without any difficulty. If this happens, I will get peace and we will get the blessings of the poor. Today we are here because of their blessings.”
CM Shri Kejriwal said, “On Monday, we have called a cabinet meeting where this idea will be passed. This will not be any new scheme and this will not have any name. After the cabinet nod, we will send the decision to the Central Government and I am very hopeful that this time they will approve our decision.”
