SHIMLA: Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN handed over a cheque amounting to Rs 59,00,000/- (Rs Fifty Nine Lakhs) to Sh. Suresh Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development, Township & Country Planning, Law, Parliamentary Affairs & Co-operatives, Himachal Pradesh in a function held in Shimla today. The amount will be further distributed to 1180 Sanitation Workers–‘CORONA Warriors’ of Municipal Corporation, Shimla @ Rs 5000/- each. Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Sh. Suresh Bhardwaj appreciated the role of SJVN in its contribution for upliftment of society and outstanding efforts of Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, CMD (SJVN) in particular. The cheques were presented in the august presence of Director (Personnel) Smt. Geeta Kapur and Director (Finance) Sh. A.K. Singh, Chief General Manager(HR) Sh. D.P Kaushal, Mayor (MC Shimla) Smt. Satya Kaundal, Deputy Mayor (MC Shimla) Sh. Shallinder Chauhan, Commissioner (MC Shimla) Sh. Pankaj Rai and other senior officers of SJVN and Government of Himachal Pradesh.Sh. Nand Lal Sharma informed that acknowledging the unmatched contribution made by these CORONA Warriors in fighting against the global pandemic COVID-19, SJVN employees have voluntarily donated their one-day salary. These CORONA warriors include employees of MC, Shimla and sanitation workers engaged by MC, Shimla through SEHB Society.Sh. Sharma further said that SJVN is in the forefront in the fight against COVID 19. In these challenging times, the role of health & hygiene is of prime significance and these sanitation workers are the backbone of the waste management system that keeps our city clean.To aid in the battle against COVID-19, employees of SJVN have already contributed one day salary to the PM CARES fund and one day salary to HP, CM Relief Fund. He also informed that SJVN has also provided financial support of more than Rs. 2 Crore to the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The financial support has been extended to procure ventilators, other medical equipment, Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs), masks, sanitizers & gloves in various hospitals of the Government of Himachal Pradesh. To combat the Corona challenge, SJVN has also contributed Rs. 25 Crore towards PM CARES Fund.
