NBCC Achieves Five Star GRIHA Green Rating for Vanijya Bhawan: A Benchmark in Sustainable Infrastructure

New Delhi, April 3 – NBCC officials are often in the news for being under the CBI’s radar, but this time, the management is making headlines for all the right reasons. The successful completion of the ‘Vanijya Bhawan’, an ultra-modern office complex for the Ministry of Commerce & Industry at Akbar Road, New Delhi, stands as a testament to their commendable work. Built at a cost of ₹226.84 crore, this state-of-the-art building is a perfect blend of sustainability, eco-friendly design, and smart technology, earning it the prestigious GRIHA Green Rating.
Seamlessly integrating the classic Lutyens’ Delhi architectural aesthetics with modern green technologies, the building features a 60 kW rooftop solar power system, rainwater harvesting, an advanced building management system, and high energy efficiency standards, setting a new benchmark for green buildings in India.
With a strong focus on security and inclusivity, ‘Vanijya Bhawan’ is equipped with a three-tier biometric entry system, 24/7 CCTV surveillance, Braille-enabled handrails, and special accessibility features for the visually impaired.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the building on June 23, 2022, highlighting its national significance. This achievement further strengthens NBCC’s leadership in the infrastructure sector and establishes a new milestone in sustainable and innovative development.
