In a significant move towards promoting clean energy, GAIL (India) Limited and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) have joined forces to optimize the operations of RRVUNL’s gas-based power plants in Rajasthan. The collaboration aims to explore the possibility of transferring RRVUNL’s gas-based power plants to a proposed Joint Venture Company (JVC) between GAIL and RRVUNL.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two entities paves the way for detailed due diligence and feasibility studies to establish the techno-commercial viability of the projects. The partnership also envisions the setting up of around 1,000 MW of solar and wind projects, creating an opportunity for Round the Clock (RTC) power.
GAIL’s extensive natural gas pipeline network in Rajasthan will play a crucial role in supplying gas to industrial customers, while RRVUNL’s expertise in power generation will ensure the success of the joint venture. The collaboration is a testament to the commitment of both entities towards promoting green and clean energy in Rajasthan.
The partnership is expected to contribute significantly to the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme in Rajasthan, ensuring tap water supply to every rural household. With GAIL’s expertise in natural gas transmission and distribution, and RRVUNL’s experience in power generation, the joint venture is poised to make a substantial impact on the energy landscape of Rajasthan.
