Duliajan, 20 October 2023: A well of Oil India Ltd. (OIL) near Duliajan has been vandalised by unknown miscreants, resulting in an uncontrolled flow of well fluids, mainly water.
The incident occurred at around 9:30 pm on 19th October 2023, when the miscreants cut and stole the entire X-Mass tree above the adapter of OIL’s well no. NHK-67 at Gazal Basti. The well was in shut in condition since 2016 and located within a depleted reservoir in Bordubi area.
OIL has filed a complaint with the local police and informed the district administration.
OIL’s Crisis Management Team (CMT) has been deployed to cap the well and control the water flow. Fire tenders have been stationed at the site and necessary measures are being taken on an urgent basis. An on-site task force is coordinating the activities on ground with the local authority.
