THDCIL celebrates achievements and unveils roadmap at 35th AGM

Rishikesh  Sep 26: THDC India Limited (THDCIL) held its 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, September 25, 2023, in New Delhi, where it presented its Annual Report for the financial year 2022-23. The report highlighted the remarkable achievements and progress made by the company in various aspects of its operations.

Shri R.K Vishnoi, CMD of THDCIL, informed the stakeholders that the company achieved a cumulative energy generation of 4,935.48 million units (MU) in FY 2022-23, the highest in the past nine years. He also said that the Tehri Hydro Power Plant (1000 MW) achieved a record daily generation of 25.80 MU on August 2, 2023.

He further stated that the company exceeded its capital expenditure (CAPEX) targets by 43.9%, with an expenditure of Rs 4,615.02 Cr against a target of Rs 3,207.54 Cr. He also mentioned that the Tehri HPP and Koteshwar HEP surpassed their normative plant availability factors (PAFs).

Shri Vishnoi also shared the updates on the upcoming projects of the company, such as the Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (4×250 MW), which is in the final stages of commissioning, and the Khurja Super Thermal Power Plant (STPP), which completed its boiler hydro test for the first unit on March 15, 2023. He also said that the company started coal extraction at Amelia Coal Mine six months ahead of schedule and resumed tunnel mining using a tunnel boring machine (TBM) in the Vishnugad Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP).

The CMD also announced that the company’s gross sales for FY 2022-23 amounted to Rs. 1,974.30 Cr, with a net profit of Rs. 670.57 Cr. He also highlighted the significant collaborations done by the company, such as establishing a joint venture (JV) company with Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd (RRECL) to develop 10,000 MW Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks in Rajasthan, and signing MoUs for hydro power projects in Kerala and Uttarakhand.

He also expressed his gratitude to the investors for their confidence in the company, as evidenced by the successful issuance of unsecured corporate bonds series – VIII worth Rs. 763 crore, which was oversubscribed nine times.

He also acknowledged the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and said that the company spent Rs. 29.16 Cr on various CSR activities in FY 2022-23, focusing on areas such as health, education, skill development, environment protection, and rural development.

He concluded his speech by thanking all the stakeholders for their support and cooperation and reaffirmed the company’s vision to be a world-class energy entity with a commitment to excellence and social values.
