The Corporate R& D team of Bharat Petroleum bagged the FICCI Chemicals and Petrochemical Award 2019 under the category “Sustainability Award for the Best Green Product in the Petrochemical Sector” for the research work on “Development & Commercialisation of Indigenously developed Gasoline Sulphur Reduction Catalyst for Refineries”.
The award was received by Mr. S. Bhargava Executive Director (R & D) & Dr. T. Chiranjeevi Chief Manager (R & D), BPCL at a glittering ceremony at the hands of Shri P Raghavendra Rao – Secretary (Chemicals & Petrochemicals), Department Of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Government Of India and Shri Deepak Mehta – Chairman FICCI Chemical Committee and C&MD, Deepak Nitrite Limited on11TH November 2019 at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.
BPCL Corporate R&D Centre Team developed Gasoline Sulphur Reduction Catalyst (BHARAT GSR CAT), an unique product, first time in India through extensive research and development activities in laboratory. The novelty of this invention is to re-use spent catalyst generated in the unit by modifying it into an useful active catalyst, through a process which results in substantial cost reduction. BPCL has obtained patent rights for Bharat-GSR CAT in India, USA, Australia, China, Singapore and has filed patent applications in Europe, Canada, UAE and Oman.
