New Delhi: A National Conference on Biomass 3P Pellet for Power Prosperity in the Country has been organised in association with National Power Training Institue on co-firing of biomass pellets in Thermal Power Plants in India in the august presence of Government Officials, Regulatory Bodies, Financial Institutions, Pellets Manufacturers, Entrepreneurs, Manufacturers, Farmer Organisations and others. Secretary Power, Chairperson CEA, Chairman CAQM, CMD NTPC, and Mission Director SAMARTH were also present.
The Conference has been inaugurated by Minister of State Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, wherein the objective of the conference deliberated to foster an enabling environment to boost co-firing of biomass pellets in thermal power plants in India and to provide a common platform for all the stakeholders in the field to share their knowledge and experience. The use of biomass pellets will lead to less stubble burning, a cleaner environment, good earnings for farmers and a reduction in coal imports.
Power Ministry has formed a platform “SAMARTH” as a one-point solution to multiple problems being faced in the disposal of surplus biomass.
Hon’ble Minister also said that approximately One lakh Metric tons of biomass have been co-fired in more than 41 Thermal Power Stations, which is likely to increase further in the near future. (Report By O.)
