IIT ROPAR emerges as the TOP Indian Institute in Times Young University Rankings 2020
IIT Ropar continues to carve its own niche among the top club of illustrious international institutions. · The Young University ranking puts spotlight on the best universities under 50 years old and utilizes five broad parameters of Teaching, Research, International outlook and Industrial output with the following weightages: Teaching: 30%; Research: 30%; Citations: 30%; International: 7.5%; and Industry: 2.5%.
Ropar: IIT Ropar charges ahead and catapults to the Top 70 in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2020 announced at UK on June 24th, 2020.The Institute has been ranked 62nd in the World reaching under Top70 best Young Institutes in the world.
The driving force behind the success of IIT Ropar is its state-of-the-art-research infrastructure, dedicated to supporting world-class research, which boasts cutting-edge equipment and highly qualified faculty. This world-class faculty is actively contributing to advancing scientific and research capacity of IIT Ropar.
Prof. Sarit K Das, Director, IIT Ropar said, “I am delighted that IIT Ropar, which is just a 12-year-old Institute, has become known worldwide for its global competitiveness. This ranking is important because IIT Ropar has particularly identified its formal vision statement as = ‘To be a trendsetter among the technology universities born in this millennium.’ This is largely due to our hard-working faculty, students and staff. The consistent performance in various rankings is a testament to the Institute’s continued success at fostering a collaborative and supportive research culture. IIT Ropar has introduced a range of targeted strategic initiatives including seed funding to facilitate high-impact research and setting up of centres of excellence which facilitate to develop new research groupings across the various disciplines and career development programmes. Meanwhile, IIT Ropar has risen in the overall Times Higher Education World ranking as well as Asia University Rankings 2020 with 47th rank. We’ve also improved our position in NIRF National ranking coming out as the best Institute in the region of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.”
